Even when the self-proclaimed guardians of justice snap at your heels, they make the best audience.



In this world, the five guardian spirits of the elements are bound to gems, and they can grant their chosen vessels great powers. Together, they grant an even greater power, and the promise of immortality, to those worthy of protecting the world in their name. But such legends drive men crazy with greed, and to hide the gems from those who would misuse them, they were bound inside other precious stones, hidden in plain sight and guarded by merit of their value as ordinary gems, their true nature only to be revealed by the full moon's light.



The most powerful and cruel of those after the gems is Zarkon, who once tasted the power of possessing the Black Jewel, and now hungers to reclaim what he lost - and take the rest along with it. Standing against him is one boy whose parents died at Zarkon's hands, and to find the jewels before Zarkon, he has taken their mantle as the Phantom Thief, stealing gems likely to be hiding what he's seeking in their depths and making the law his enemy. But although he started his quest alone and made himself many enemies, he may yet find himself valuable friends...
